Too good to forget!
Everyone loves a good TV night if it’s done properly, and a lot of that comes from having the best installation you can afford. But what a lot of people don’t know is you can improve your experience even without having to spend a fortune on special gear, just by making some wise choices for your particular room size and placement.
We stumbled across a new site the other day which promises to provide an on-screen eye test service using nothing more exotic than your monitor and a smartphone. The project is clearly still in beta (because there’s a big beta badge on it) so we’re happy to give it a bit of slack, but there is one huge problem which the developers seem to have overlooked.
We humans make a lot of stuff. A whole huge amount of stuff. Some of it cool and useful (like safety pins) and some not so (like light up Justin Bieber ties). So if you’ve ever said to yourself, ‘wow, I wonder how they make that product?‘, then this very cool site is probably a place you need to bookmark. Right now.

We love it when clever people come up with clever uses of basic technology, and this is one of those cases. The #X campaign has a very simple, but powerful message – don’t text while you drive. There are more teenage road deaths caused by texting while driving than anything else, so this is a hugely valuable initiative. And it’s simple to do.

Every day we hear about yet another attack on some part of the net or another, whether it’s huge breaches like the one at Adobe last year, or smaller attacks on shopping sites. The result each time is a little bit more information goes into the cracker database, a username here, a password there. Now you can find out whether your details have been breached, and if so where.
The Raspberry Pi just got some serious competition. Brit developers Imagination has just released a new development system, called the MIPS Creator C120, which offers some serious functionality on a board.
