Turn Google Translate into a virtual beatboxer

Google is a company that seems to make everything. No longer limited to simply assisting you in searching the web, the do everything from delivering email to changing the way you interact with your phone. One of their lesser-known tools is a virtual beatboxer. Okay, so it’s not an official tool, but it works, and it’s hilarious. What you need to do is head over to Google Translate and make sure that you’re going from German to German. Now add…

Inception – done hard core geek style

Software Engineer A. R. Karthick is clearly a coder with some needs. One of them is to understand how the hit movie Inception works on a programmatical level. So he’s gone and uploaded a hard core geek interpretation to GitHub to pull it all together. Don’t expect to understand unless you code. Just marvel. [Thanks Tom!]  Programmatic representation of the Brilliant movie: INCEPTION by the Genius Director THY name is Christopher Nolan! My tribute to Nolan in “C” Language and…

Seat Savers – a tale of New York marketing ingenuity

Some enterprising chaps in New York have turned a simple replica food product into a potential money spinner. The Seat Savers concept comes from a simple idea – that people won’t disturb or use a chair with a spilled beverage or foodstuff on it. The original products come from the Silly Spills range of replica foods sold at New York’s Jeremy’s Place, and are converted by the simple addition of a marketing sign saying ‘Seat Savers’ and a price tag of…

I want an iPhone 4 parody…gets someone fired

Wow, following on from the Futurama piece last week, this *very NSFW, very dodgy language* spoof animation is hilarious. Poor old Apple users are really starting to get the AOL lame user treatment. “It is 3G, and has the WiFies”. Awesome.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0pqZg (…oh and apparently the maker of the video has apparently been fired by Best Buy for creating it. One of the best comments comes from the Techdirt comments section: “In a situation like this, I always ask myself, “WWJD”…

Scientific Doom Survival T-Shirt

As you all probably know, yesterday was not the end of the world. While this was feared by a few, the successful start of the worlds biggest particle accelerator, also known as the Large Hadron Collider at Cern, Geneva, Switzerland, did not bring up anything worse than cheerful yelling in the scientific community and a few press releases. No black holes, no time-warp, no breaking apart of the known universe. So someone just had to make a memorial t-shirt to…

Naughty LG Electronics Caught Doctoring Eco Stats – not so lucky right now…

Pity poor old LG Electronics, caught out in a little eco-scam in Australia. Apparently the naughty company has been tampering with energy efficiency testing of their fridges by installing a sneaky device that trips into a special low-power mode when the ambient temperature is between 22 and 32 degrees and the door hasn’t been opened for some time, which is similar to the sort of conditions you might find in an energy rating test lab. The two products, models L197NFS and P197WFS, actually…
