Even if you start out your morning in an utterly chipper mood, bad weather can bring you down a notch or two. Some days are just depressingly overcast, and all you can do is try to make the best of it. Of course, you can’t snap your fingers and make a rainy day more cheerful, but you can add your own little ray of sunshine.

Few people will sit down and read a full book cover to cover. Nowadays it seems like attention spans are only as long as a YouTube video or magazine article. Thankfully, there are always ways to attract people back to reading. What’s the best way to do that you ask?

Keeping a fish is not nearly as intensive as having a cat or dog. You don’t really need to interact with them all that much other than to toss in some food. Of course, the lovely task of cleaning out their bowl comes up what feels like rather frequently, but there are ways to get around that.

It seems funny that ‘geek culture’ is trendy right now. Many of the people that were picked on in gradeschool are now considered cool. That of course doesn’t change the hierarchy, as it’s more a style than a lifestyle, but hey, at least we get some cool stuff while it lasts right?

For whatever reason, bubbles are exceedingly entertaining. It’s hard to pass up trying to poke one if it comes within appendage range, but unless there are more of them to come, it is a very short-lived form of joy. There are the rare moments where you get a bubble to land on you for a mere matter of seconds, and you can’t help but feel as though you are a master of all soapy elements.

We rely on coffee to keep our brains functioning. Working too much and trying to balance life at home leaves little room for sleep. Caffeine alone isn’t going to help you keep track of everything though. Early in the morning is when we’re groggy and not quite sure what existence is, so we have to leave reminders around to make sure we’re not forgetting anything. Morning is not something we really enjoy. However, when it comes to pouring that second cup of coffee things don’t seem so bad. Of course, by that time you’re already at work. Some of us are a bit prone to knocking things around as we don’t reach a level of full awareness before noon. If this strikes a chord, you might want to invest in a mug that is more accident-proof.

Getting someone a card for a special occasion is the fallback that everyone uses. Even with good sentiments, it still isn’t a well thought out gift. If you like going the extra mile to make someone feel special, then you don’t just want to shove something generic at them.

Thanks to Pixar and Luxo Jr., we all know of adjustable desk lamps. Maybe it’s just me, but whenever I see them now, they seem sort of life-like. Of course, nostalgia kicks in for all of the movies that start out with Luxo Jr. showing up, and you can’t help but plaster a smile on your face. Can you imagine what it would be like to have one of those in your office?
