Google Chromebook Pixel is sleek, but can it step up to the plate?

We’re all getting far too used to having touchscreen devices. At least once or twice now, I’ve found myself double tapping my laptop screen and being surprised when it didn’t do anything. Tablets, phones, and music players have moved to this standard, so it’s nice to see that laptops are doing the same.

RobotCar UK – are we heading towards a £100 robot car accessory pack?

Apparently Google researchers are not the only people looking seriously at robotic self-driving cars. Well we knew the Japanese and Chinese were doing work, but we’re surprised to learn that the good folk at Oxford University are also having fun with the concept, although they’re taking a different approach altogether.

Gioteck GC-2 controller for PS3 – can you teach an old dog a new trick?

Any console gamers out there that prefer the PS3? It seems that there are always third party sellers for additions like controllers, but do they really have anything worth buying? Most of the time the answer is no, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be an occasional winner.

Everything you ever wanted to know about USB chargers, but were afraid to ask…

It’s surprising how many things we take for granted. Like the little light that goes on when you open the fridge and the serrated edge on steak knives. One other item we tend to overlook is the humble and yet oh so crucial USB charger. There’s no such thing as a ‘retina charger‘ is there, and people don’t don black turtle necks to extol the virtues of this year’s new charger block on stage. But where would we be without…

Sony Personal Field Speaker Headphones – big sound in a tiny package?

When you hear the word ‘headphones’, you probably think of over the ear cups. There are all sorts of makes and models out there with varying price, quality, and comfort levels. However, it normally comes down to brands that we trust (and some scouring on the internet) to help us in our decision making.

FatCat PowerBar 4200 – don’t be fooled by its size

The world has shifted into one that is overrun by technology and social media. While it’s a little disheartening to see toddlers chewing on smartphones, it’s a little difficult to imagine life without an electronic device glued to your hand. The one thing that will cause a considerable amount of panic now though, is having your gear die in the middle of the day. Even if your phone has a long battery life, playing games, sending texts or emails, and…

Razer Edge Pro Gaming System is the world’s first crowdsourced gaming tablet

Playing games on your tablet is fun and all, but compared to your PC it doesn’t stand a chance. You can’t exactly put your whole computer setup in your bag, and are stuck playing PC games at home, or maybe a LAN if one crops up. Can you imagine what it would be like if your tablet were just as powerful as your rig?

Carved Bamboo Mouse and Keyboard are eco and office-friendly

When you think of a bamboo peripheral such as a mouse or keyboard, you think of a light warm brown color. While this is a “green” product, people don’t always buy it for that reason. Aesthetics play a big part in what you put in your office, since you have to look at it all day. If you want to be eco-friendly, and also fit your new gear into your color scheme, then do I have a treat for you.

How important is the information on your computer? Is that the place that you store all of your photos, videos, and works in progress? If you want to make sure your memories never get deleted by accident or by force of nature, then you’re going to need something better than any ole external hard drive.

Doctor Who TARDIS PC – Is it bigger on the inside?

Who loves Doctor Who? If your hand shot up in the air while you were sitting at your desk, then you’re probably a fan. There’s also a good chance you have a sonic screwdriver, River Song’s journal, and a Dalek plush sitting on your bed. If you wish you could have your own TARDIS, but don’t have room for the full-size version, then you’re going to want to prepare your wallet.

The Elf solar powered electric commuter is part bicycle, part car and all green

At this time of year you’ll find a whole bunch of elves running around, tying up parcels and helping out in the frozen North. But one elf you’ll find in warmer climes has very little to do with children’s toys and everything to do with making transport a more ecologically friendly affair.
