So, how weird is THAT?

Disappearing Door Car – now you see it…

The Disappearing Door Car is a prototype concept car made by Lincoln back in 1993 with a door technology that clearly hasn’t yet made it into production. WATCH THE VIDEO! Bearing in mind how embarrassing this could be if accidently activated at speed on a highway, we’re kind of not surprised it fell by the wayside (boom boom). Anyhoo, there it is, in all its eBay auction glory for y’all. [Thanks Teli]   This is a multi personality car – it…

Elvis Wowee – creepy robot King talks sings like Bruce Lee film

The Elvis Wowee Amimatronic is just too weird. Built by the Robosapien people it features the King singing and talking with strange head, lip and eye movements. If your idea of a cosy night in is gazing adoringly at a twitchy bust of your pop idol mouthing inanities then this is for you. The rest of us will probably just pop a CD in the tray and grab a sandwich. Around $524.00 in Danish. Watch the frightening video.  It is…

Suicide Bomb Box – er…

The Suicide Bomb Box. Number 342 on the list of things you probably don’t want to carry on board next time you fly. Let’s face it, you’d probably get a direct flight transfer to Cuba faster than you could say, ‘but it’s only a joke, Officer…’ The rather strange translation also suggests that it also may double up as a hidden compartment case, the perfect place to stash some drugs or ammunition, don’t you think? $65.00 in Yen like. Tank Limo – you calling me a poser, mate?

The Tank Limo is kind of scary. OK, so it’s white, with a plush green interior and cocktail bar (with a Jacuzzi on the way), but it’s still scary. Wonder if you have any problems with doormen when you crawl out of this puppy on your way to the club? Between £1600 and £4000 per hire, and don’t expect to get anywhere very fast will you?  So at Christmas we pulled out the best armored personnel carrier from 30 we had…

Turn your Pocket PC into a Tricorder – it’s life Jim…

The Tricorder program for Pocket PCs. Walk up to unsuspecting colleagues at work, point your phone at them and giggle as strange Star Trek type noises play and witty lines such as ‘carbon based entity’ appear on your screen. Look summer’s coming OK, no-one wants to seriously spend time working when the sun’s out. Oh and if you really want to go the whole hog, download the free Yoda Ringtone Pack (‘mmm…message from the Dark Side there is…’) and Original Tricorder Media Player Skin as well….

Jet Powered Sinclair C5 – three wheeled whoosh?

A jet powered Sinclair C5? They’re kidding right? Well apparently not, and nor is the Air Research JFS100-13A engine. The videos are kind of hilarious in a ‘what the…?’ kind of way. [via The Reg]   What a blessing these wheels are and very reasonably priced to. With a Jet on the back the existing wheels weren’t going to deal with the loads put on them. These wheels and brakes were purchased of ebay from a very helpful chap called…

GlowFur – wearable art…or not…

They’re pitching GlowFur as ‘wearable art’, but actually art is probably not the right word. Perhaps ‘wearable embarrassment instead? Anyhoo, if you’re into shining like a beacon down your local club night ding-dongs, this is definitely for you. Me, I’d rather skulk moodily alone in a corner somewhere.  This site was developed to bring the world this most fashionable wearable art. Unlike anything you have seen before, the original GlowFur apparel is setting a new standard of wearable art. As…

DIY Darth Vader Belt – make your own destiny

Make your own Darth Vader Belt. Actually there’s enough information on this site to help you make the whole costume. In fact there’s too much information. Much too much information. Far far too much.  The red around the aluminum knobs are red powder coated washers. You could achieve this same effect with small washers and some paint, I believe that russrep above actually includes these in his boxes now a days. The silver stuff in the rectangular area can be…

Instinct – Russian crazy made Flash

Instinct. Silly Diversion Alert. It took me a while to figure out what this Flash based Russian site was about, but in the end I guessed it must be an advertising agency? It’s total eye candy nonsense, but if you’ve got a few moments take a look, it’s one of the most inventive and engaging interfaces I’ve seen for a while. And some of the ads are pretty good actually (hint: drop in the apple and toast). Wish I could speak Russki! Tags:…

Pet Spa – the critter washer

The Pet Spa. A mind boggling concept, a washing machine for your moggie or pooch. It just reeks of class, does it not? Oh and it’s not to be confused with the Whirlpool Jentle Pet, OK? If you need to know just how great an idea this is, watch the video of a poor cat put inside one of these things by its owners. Sheesh! [via Presurfer]  Hydro-muscular massage and bath in California’s first Pet Spa, a totally automatic cabin that…

Play-Doh Cologne – smell like teen spirit?

Play-Doh Cologne Spray is a bit weird. Isn’t it? Maybe it’s just me, but I really can’t see why you’d want to walk around smelling like a first grade classroom. Ah well. It’s $18.99 for all you juvenile delinquents out there.  Those fresh-from-the-can, full-of-potential, childhood memories… Now in a convenient spray! This Limited Edition Cologne was created to celebrate the 50th Birthday of Play-Doh! Hasbro said the fragrance is “meant for highly-creative people, who seek a whimsical scent reminiscent of…

Insect Lab – dead bionic insects as art?

Insect Lab. Artist Mike Libby has made a name for himself through adding mechanical and electronic parts to the cadavers of deceased insects. It’s kind of weird, and almost, but not quite, macabre. Think of him as a kind of cross between Dr Frankenstein and Prof Taxidermist. Anyway, we know nothing about art, so we’ll shut up now. Prices vary from around $200.00.  Insect Lab is an artist operated studio that customizes real insects with antique watch parts and electronic components. Offering a variety of…
