Plasma Pong. The classic computer game Pong gets a lurid update with lots of groovy man, groovy and..ah…real time fluid dynamics. Free.  Players have several new abilities that add fun twists to the classic game. In the game you can inject plasma fluid into the environment, create a vacuum from your paddle, and blast shockwaves into the playing area. Handbrake. Nice name. Anyway it’s a free DVD to MPEG4 ripper for the Apple Mac. Let’s you create movies for the iPod methinks.  HandBrake is a GPL’d multiplatform, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 ripper/converter. HandBrake was originally available on the BeOS, but now has been ported over to MacOS X and to GNU/Linux. A Windows port is being worked on.

Drivers galore!

Driver Packs. Windows XP drivers. All of them. In packs. To download. Free of charge. Wow!  I’ve started these DriverPacks because I wanted to achieve a Uniform UXPCD. Why in the world would you want support for all available hardware, I hear you thinking. Well, that’s easy to explain: to be able to use these unattended Windows XP installation CD’s on any computer (of course one that’s capable of running Windows XP).

 Metafilter had a nice thread the other day offering a round up of some sites which provided downloadable computer games free of charge. Never one to miss out on a freebie, the Ferret thought you lot might also be interested in said information. So here, cheapskates, enjoy – Game Hippo – huge selection and nice design. Caiman – comprehensive but slow loading. Acid-Play – cute. Noodan – ok, but some banners NSFW. Planet Freeplay – nice selection. I would add Pop Cap – lovely selection of free Flash games…and……

Vanilla forums.

Vanilla Forums. Free Open Source PHP/MySQL application which offers a twist on the usual boring forums concept. Definitely worth a look.  With Vanilla we wanted to break the mold created and followed by just about every other forum on the web. The Amazing Webpage Emailer.

The Amazing Webpage Emailer. Very neat toolbar which lets you email a web page, without the adverts and rubbish, with the proper formatting and even if it’s locked behind passworded doors. Fast too. Plug-ins for IE, Firefox and Netscape. They do ask you for your email address while sending though, so be prepared.
