Flipbac Angle Viewfinder – flip out viewfinder accessory delivers creative mojo

The Flipbac is one of those clever ideas which has been a long time coming. Basically a stick on mirror which you attach to your digital camera LCD to give you an angled viewfinder for those artistic and hard to reach shots. The company sent me one to play with and it’s rather cool. At first glance the thing looks too flimsy to work, but once it’s installed on the LCD via the soft glue mount, it feels really quite…

Body Stick Deodorant – the everlasting underarm odour destroyer

The Body Stick Deodorant is billed as the everlasting odour destroyer. Based around a mysterious ‘secret formula’ disc of steel, the retailers claim that it will remove perspiration odour after rubbing the area for 20 – 30 seconds. No mess, no stings, no stains. We’re reserving judgement until we’ve actually experienced an odour free afternoon running a local Marathon. £19.95.  The idea of a non-chemical deodorant that lasts a lifetime may seem a bit far-fetched. However, the amazing Body Stick…

BatteryVitamin – rejuvenate your battery and feel fresh again

BatteryVitamin promises to rejuvenate your old lead acid battery and lengthen its lifespan. It does this by doing some ‘nano’ stuff to help keep the plates fresh by cutting down on the electroplating process. It’s apparently nothing to do with sulfating, which is a well known alternative method. Anyway it seems that it stops the corrosion of the plates in the battery. If it works as advertised it could be useful for the electric vehicle market, eh?  What it all…

Windows Vista – oh good grief…

I’ve just started using Windows Vista in earnest, having moved from XP to a newer laptop and I’ve just got to say that it’s the worst piece of trash I’ve ever had the misfortune to use. It makes Windows 3.1 look positively radiant, and it’s no surprise to me that people have been flocking to the Apple Mac in droves if this is the best that Microsoft can do. It’s slow, buggy, unbelievably and I mean unbelievably annoying and breaks just…

Debut – freeware video recorder software is a bit of a show off

Debut Video Capture is a pretty cool piece of freeware video grabbing tech. What’s cool is the range of things it can do. Not just screen grabbing, but also webcam recording and screencast capture. All rolled up into one nice and easy interface. It’ll even do stills from a video capture on the fly. Oh and did I mention it will capture from your camcorder via the USB port as well? Yep, versatile. Definitely one to keep in the toolbox….

Laptop Alarm – protect your laptop in public places

Laptop Alarm. Software emits a piercing alarm if the power cable is unplugged, the laptop is shut-down or the mouse removed. Clearly designed for those times when you’re sitting in a public place (e.g. a library or local coffee shop) and need to use the restroom. Personally I’d take the laptop with me, as I somehow get the feeling that a loud alarm is not going to stop your machine disappearing out the door if it’s a Macbook Air. Know…
