Palabea – the language community

Palabea

Palabea is an online language learning service. Yes another one. No I have no idea why there are so many. Yes, it’s German. No I don’t know what the name means. Well, possibly it could be an excuse to find cute partners in exotic countries, or even get a Green Card, but I can’t tell from here. Yes, the site is very well designed, and has some heavyweight partners like the BBC and Deutsche Welle.

OK, well since you asked – it has video chat, online and offline learning opportunities, language school listings, and virtual classrooms for polishing up the written and grammar part of the equation. Conclusion? It’s a very well featured site with lots to do and enjoy in the course of your linguistic leap for freedom. Oh and it’s beta and free.

As an international community, palabea connects people who share the same interests in learning languages and in discovering different cultures. People from all over the world can communicate via audio chat, video chat and text messages to practice foreign languages, to support others and of course to develop friendships around the world.

  • Palabea is pretty cool, after reading this post I went and checked it out. Is this a new language learning site? There are so many emerging daily it’s hard to pick the right one. So far I have been using http://www.edufire.com and it has been great so far. Thanks for the resource
