HP EliteBook 6930p – the all day laptop computer finally…almost…arrives

So, the first of the extra long battery life laptops have started to appear. The new HP EliteBook 6930p may look totally boring compared with something from Apple, but when you get 24 hour battery life, military spec ruggedness, 80 GB of solid state drive and up to 4 GB or RAM with Radeon class gaming graphics on board, you’re talking a mega machine which is bound to appeal to a lot of people looking for loooong battery life (and who isn’t, Marsha?)

I know I’d rather have a 24 hour box than any cutesy skinny thing that fits into an envelope, even if it does weigh 3kg+ and cost around $2500.00 (the 80GB Intel X-18M Solid State Drive and 12 cell battery which guarantee the long life are priced at over $800.00 on their own).

Sure they don’t tell you that the battery is an ugly clunky beast, and we’re also not told exactly what applications were running during that 24 hour test (you can bet it had nothing to do with showing DVDs videos that’s fer sure) but it’s a start eh?
