Hoaxcall is a prank call web service which lets you set up annoying funny phone calls to any number you choose. The kicker is that you are actually in on the call as it happens via the website audio, so you get to trigger the responses in real time to make them more effective. There are only 3 scenarios at the moment, but you can betcha that number will grow if this thing gains traction.
Is it funny? Potentially. Could it be abused? Undoubtedly, although the site does restrict calls to the same number to one every 21 days. It’s clever technology all right (originated in Germany) and I suppose it would be naff to pour cold water on it really. So…we will remain aloof. And distant. And ever so slightly pompous.
Just pick a call scenario from the list on the right and then sit back and listen… You’ll be surprised at how well (or how bad!) your friend reacts to your prank when you play back the prerecorded audio clips. To play the clips, simply click the sentence you want him or her to hear. It’s so easy to have a bit of fun!
