I thought it was bad. It could have been great, but was off the mark in ways where if you don't do it right, it sucks.
cbm: we differ in viewpoints
What was great about it is that I didn't grow up listening to The Beatles, so I had no context that justified the importance people placed on their music. There were a couple Beatles songs I liked, but without context I always thought they were an average band. Across the Universe puts their music in a historical context and now I finally get it! The movie helped me understand why The Beatles matter so much.
Neal: Exactly! :-) Now imagine how you feel if you've lived through it… (or at least the tail end of it!). Amazing.
Loved it. Didn't expect to. Was half expecting to switch it off. But it was brilliant.
Yeah I know what you mean. The first 10 minutes I was like…what….? But the leads were so amazing that it sucked you in I thought. :)
