Anyone who’s a fan of The Big Picture photo journalism blog put out by the Boston Globe will probably remember LIFE magazine, home of some of the most iconic photography of the 20th century. Sadly LIFE wound down in 2000 and hasn’t been seen around much since. Well roll on 2009 and things look a little different. LIFE has been reborn under Getty Images who have created Life.com.
Life.com is a photo archive of current and historical photographs, all fully searchable and accessible via the web. You can buy photos, email links to your friends and even rate the photos if you have the gall. Do yourself a favour and have a look around, there are some fascinating finds in there.
Welcome to LIFE.com, the largest, most amazing collection of professional photography on the Web. LIFE and Getty Images, the two most recognized names in photography, have joined forces to provide you instant access to millions of breathtaking photographs – for free. LIFE.com not only lets you wander through the legendary LIFE and Getty archives, but with more than 3,000 new photos added every day, it also gives you the best pictures of the people and places shaping our world now.
