Sounds great, just what we need to save the planet, eh? One slight problem, what happens with stuff like a satellite or cable set top box which needs to phone home at night to download EPG data or update firmware? Ah well, let’s not quibble, after all it does let you keep all your old power sockets, which is v useful. And there’s a model for computers too. $24.95.
TrickleStar’s Universal TrickleSaver…offers the simplest and most effective way to reduce the standby power that is consumed by TV accessory devices. The product has inbuilt current sensing circuitry that senses when a TV is on or off. When TV is ‘on’ the product will switch on all accessory devices. Conversely, when the TV is ‘off’, the product will switch off all accessory devices. Both the TrickleSaver products are typically connected to a standard electrical power-strip in order to power a number of connected devices.
