I was a mite impressed with Top Gear’s Answer to Caravaning the other week. A tiny, two wheeled Freedom Caravan transform itself into a mini Hindenberg, minus the blowing up bits. Sure, it’s rubbish in a headwind, can’t land in a crosswind and something was seriously up with those stabilisers, but so what? You can now fit an airship into a very, very small caravan. Nice work Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons Ltd.

Lindstrand Balloons were approached at the beginning of this year by the TopGear team to work with them to design and build a hot air airship flying caravan. A stock Lindstrand hot air airship, designed and manufactured in Oswestry, was used and the Lindstrand design engineers also adapted a small caravan (Freedom Caravan Microlight Discovery), to transform it into a fully certified aircraft.
