We’ll break with our normal schedule of electric bikes and hydrogen cars and bring you something a little noisier. This is the FX Mountain Moto a new category of off-road bike. It’s ultralight, weighing in at 57kg with a 9hp 125c 4-stroke motor so it really moves. The low weight, nimble handling and power combine to give the rider a mountain-bike style ride with motocross-style go-anywhere-ness

The bikes are a mixture of high-end mountain bike and lightweight motocross gear so they can be thrown around on the track or thrown over a fence. You can even fit two of them on the back of a 4WD equipped with a hitch. They’re not quite ready yet, but should be on sale in 2011, priced around US$4995. There’s also a long-range expedition model coming as well.

FX wants to put high performance and superb handling in the hands of as many people as possible, to provide the dramatic increase in safety and fun factor which only a quality motorcycle can provide. The FX Mountain Moto can be used for trail riding, play riding, hill-climbing. It offers the maneuverability of a trials bike with a comfortable motocross-style riding position that fits most almost anyone, grown-ups and teenagers.
