Retroshare – open source P2P program offers secure file sharing

RetroShare is a free open source program which offers secure private file sharing via a decentralised (i.e. no server needed) P2P system. Once installed you can share IDs via email to invite your trusted friends to the network, and then chat, swap files, and generally hang out in your own private friendship cloud.

All file transfers are completely encrypted and because there’s no central server, not even the ISP can see what’s being exchanged. Perfect if you have really secure company documents or spreadsheets etc you need to move around. Cool tech.

RetroShare is a Open Source cross-platform, private and secure decentralised communication platform. It lets you to securely chat and share files with your friends and family, using a web-of-trust to authenticate peers and OpenSSL to encrypt all communication. RetroShare provides filesharing, chat, messages, forums and channels.
