Mind Control comes to the computer – science fiction now fact?

Epocheadset

This EPOCH Headset is one component of an astonishing new system being promoted to give people mind control over computing and gaming. Couple this head mounted brain scanner with the second component, a software program called Jedi Mouse and you have a system which can give physically impaired people the ability to control a computer purely through the power of thought. Sound far fetched? Watch the video.

The idea is for the user to train their brain to deliver specific responses to commands such as ‘push’, ‘up’, ‘down’ etc. Once the software has been trained to reliably recognise these brain patterns, it can then translate them into commands for the computer. It’s really astonishing stuff, and potentially a game changer in a huge number of ways.

The headset costs $299.00 and the software adds another $99.00, so we’re not talking huge expenditures here. Amazing.

Jedi Mind, Inc. is a publicly traded company under the symbol: JEDM. The Company develops software applications designed to interact with the Emotiv wireless headset, which detects electrical signals produced by the brain. The sensors detect thoughts, feelings, expressions and initiates commands produced by the software. The applications for this technology are endless. The headset detects and processes real time brain activity patterns (small voltage changes in the brain caused by the firing of neurons) using a device that measures electric activity in the brain.

  • Cool tech. Not sure George Lucas will find the software name as cool…

  • Absolutely amazing! I can see huge benefit for people like stroke victims here. Not much use for the able bodied though, beyond a cool tool for developing relaxation techniques, but that in itself has value. I wonder if they do visual interface relaxation software for it? I'd buy it for that!
