OVK Slowdown is a free iPhone app designed to help train youngsters to drive slower while listening to their music. The theory is that people drive faster when listening to their favourite tracks, so the app automatically slows down the music and even stops it if you’re exceeding the local speed limit.
It’s clever all right, but we’re trying to work out what stops the kids from just deleting the app instantly once it gets annoying. The software has been created by a group of concerned parents whose children have been killed or injured in accidents, so it’s extremely worthy in every way. Video here.
Slow Down, avoid an accident. Use the app to listen to your favourite music while driving. Let it remind you to slow down when you drive too fast. This app uses GPS to work out your current driving speed. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. The Slow Down app was created for your safety by OVK – Parents of Child Road Accidents.
