I’m sure that everyone here owns a pair of headphones. You probably own a pair of speakers as well. How cool would it be if your headphones could actually transform into a pair of detachable speakers? That’s exactly what one designer was thinking when they came up with this Hexsound concept.
Obviously just taking a regular pair of existing headphones and ripping the ear cups off will not produce the desired effect. After all, most headphones don’t have powerful enough speakers to pump out enough sound to fill a room. Come to think of it, I’m not sure that I’d even want a pair that had that potential. Could you imagine forgetting that they were cranked up all the way, then putting them directly over your ears? I’d hope that if this concept were ever made, that they’d somehow address that issue.
Other features of this conceptual design are Bluetooth connectivity for the speakers, and a solar headband, which could help keep the speakers juiced up. I’m not sure how close we are to making something quite like this, but I wouldn’t mind owning a pair.
