Google Voice now testing number porting

If you’ve not checked out Google Voice, it’s something that I would highly recommend doing. The service gives you a number, which can be used to receive calls on virtually any phone that you like. You can also place calls, send/receive texts and a whole lot more. Well now Google is slowly rolling out a new feature: Number porting.

That’s right, some users are now able to port their current phone number to Google Voice for a $20 fee. This means that you won’t have to pick out a new number, then worry about giving it to everyone you know. They are currently only testing this feature, so it’s possible that it may not become a permanent offering.
