Fujifilm creates tape drives that hold a whopping 5TB of data

Do you have a lot of data? I mean a LOT of data? While I highly doubt you have a need for something that holds 5TB of information, it’s now possible to do so on one device. No, I’m not talking about spinning platters. Rather, good old-fashioned magnetic tape.

Fujifilm has begun shipping their StorageTek T10000C, which at 5TB, they claim it is the largest capacity in the world. The trick to holding so many bits is in use of barium ferrite as the magnetic material for the tape. No word on pricing.
