Need a secure chat window? Use TorChat

Do you ever have conversations that you want to make sure are kept completely private? Perhaps you need to transfer a sensitive file to someone elsewhere, and need to be sure that it won’t be discovered by unwanted eyes. There are many reasons why one would feel it necessary to be so secretive, such as if your last name is Bond. Regardless of your motives, there is a simple application that can help you achieve such anonymity.

TorChat is a very simple instant messaging client that works on both Windows and Linux. This open source software utilizes the Tor network to ensure the utmost privacy when communicating. (If you’re not familiar with the Tor network, I might suggest checking out their site for an in-depth look at how it works.) The best part is that the IM client is no harder to setup than any other on your computer. You’ll just need the randomly-generated string of 16 characters from the person you’re wanting to chat with, and you’re all set.
