Buffalo’s MiniStation drives mount to the back of your TV

TV’s that can do more than just display movies and cable TV are becoming more and more common. One great feature that’s becoming more prominent is the ability to record video directly to a USB-connected hard drive. If you’re like me, you’re happy to not need another device lying around, but an external hard drive can still ruin that perfect balance that you have going on your entertainment center. So where do you hide your drive? Why not just mount it to the back of the TV itself?

That’s exactly what Buffalo wants you to do. Their new MiniStation hard drives come with a mounting bracket that will let you take advantage of the wall-mounting screw holes on the back of your TV. That is if you’re not using them, of course. Is is a revolutionary product? No. But anything that keeps cables organized and my entertainment center free of unnecessary devices is a winner in my book. We’re not sure when we’ll be getting a US release of these, but they go on sale in Japan for around $113 for a 500GB version.

  • Out of interest:, what model TV is that in the picture ?

  • The table top set up service is suitable for LCD install, LED install and plasma install. If you have just brought a new television screen and all you need is help unpacking it and setting it up then the table top Plasma TV. Thanks :) Home Theater Perth

  • Looks like a nice little bit of kit to keep things tidy. The only thing I'd be concerned about is the temp. Most TV's tend to get a bit hot and I wouldn't want to stick my external hard drives next to anything that could heat it up too much. There are a few other options out there.
