Philips AmbientLED bulb saves energy, shines bright

One easy way that you can cut back on your electric bill is to switch your light bulbs out for ones that are more energy-efficient. This does have its drawbacks, of course. One of the biggest being the fact that energy-efficient bulbs tend to put out a lot less light. So if you’re forced to use more lights than before, you’re somewhat defeating the purpose of making the switch. However, this new Philips AmbientLED 12.5-watt A19 LED bulb might be exactly what you need.

The name really does say it all with this product. It’s a bulb that contains 19 LEDs, and consumes only 12.5 watts of power. What it doesn’t say is the light output, which is likely going to be the selling point. It outputs at 800 lumen, which is around the same as a 60-watt incandescent bulb (and almost twice what many other LED bulbs put out). The deterrent is going to be the price, unfortunately. It’s hard to justify $40 for a single bulb, even if it does save you more money in the long run.
