Your Android Mobile Phone As An Emergency Lifesaver

Emergencysmartphone

Look, when the mess really hits the fan, and it all comes crashing down, I’m gonna be smug and snug baby, because I’ve got a secret weapon –  my Android smartphone. Sure I could use it to call for help, but what happens if there’s nobody listening?

Well I’ll power it up with my super dandy solar wind-up air powered charger and make use of the three most valuable things my handset can deliver in times of emergencies.

  • The US Army Survival Guide. Yep, the entire 23 chapter survival guide the pros use, all there nestling on your little handheld computer. Lifesaving tips, injury treatment, selecting shelters. It’s all I need to avoid the ravenous werewolves and dodgy car salesmen in our dystopian future.
  • Boskoi. This free open source application helps you find food from the crowd sourced ‘edible landscape’ around you. Forage for figs in a derelict neighbour’s garden, hunt for free roaming fowl, herbs, nuts, whatever will keep you going now that Mickey Ds is shut for good. Based around a Google map mashup, let’s hope the servers are still running.
  • How to Start A Fire With A Cell Phone. Finally, if it all comes down to desperate stakes, and you’re left with your last foraged swamp rat, here’s a vital tip on making use of your phone’s battery to start a fire to feed your belly. You’ll need some steel wool, oh and that solar charger will probably be handy too.

Good luck!

Boskoi

Put the entire U.S. Army survival guide on your phone, offline. Can install on sd card(2.2+). Based on the U.S. Army Survival Manual FM 3-05.70
