Use a laser pointer to control your lights (or just about anything else)

As humans, it seems that we’re on a quest to become lazier. We hide it behind the guise of making our lives easier. Either way, we don’t want to put any more effort into small tasks than is absolutely necessary. Take, for instance, the turning on and off of electronics. We’ve had The Clapper since I can remember. Just a clap can turn anything with a plug on or off. If clapping is too loud for you, you could always hack a sensor into your outlet and use a laser pointer.

This DIY project might not solve all of your worldly problems, but it does make for an interesting way to control your electronics. Just a quick point of a laser and it will turn your lamp, radio or anything else on or off. It will take a good bit of prior modding experience to get this one going to, as you’ll be using an arduino to accomplish this feat. If playing with lasers is your idea of fun, definitely check out this project.
