PianoMaestro is a great teaching aid for beginning piano students

Learning piano can be extremely difficult. There are always teachers you can go to, but that costs a lot of money if you go to lessons for several years. If you want to start learning at your own pace, and with a bit more of an electronic teacher, you may want to look into the PianoMaestro.

Companies that make electronic keyboards such as Casio have been making keyboards with follow-along lights for years, but if you want to use a regular old piano, you may be out of luck. That’s where the PianoMaestro steps in. This row of LED lights is supposed to sit atop your keys until they are aligned with the right white and black keys, and will plug into your PC. The accompanying software turns MIDI files into onscreen musical notation. If you’re afraid of having all the notes thrown at you at once, you can program it to only show one hand at a time. After a while, you’ll get the hang of it and can go to both hands at your own pace. This whole set costs $169. The only thing this doesn’t come with is discipline, meaning you’ll have to want to learn to be able to play better.
