Himedia Android-powered media player has everything you need

It seems like ages ago when the only things you would hook up to your TV were video game consoles and VCRs. These days, more and more people are hooking up computers, to get the most out of their big screens. Even gaming consoles like the 360 and PS3 have a variety of multimedia functions, outside of simply playing games. If you’re in the market for a computer to plug into your TV, here’s an Android-powered one that looks rather interesting.

As one can imagine, having a media player powered by Android can have its advantages. Namely, anything you can find on the Android Marketplace will work on here. So that means in addition to streaming content from online, or from another computer in the house, you can surf the web and play Angry Birds. You can even use the BitTorrent client to download video in the background, if that’s your thing. As for connection, you’ll have coax, composite, optical audio, HDMI, USB 3.0 and gigabit ethernet. You can also upgrade to a wireless model. There’s even room for you to install your own hard drive, should you choose. Not too bad for the $160 price.

  • I wonder if these can stream video from any website.. veetle, sopcast, etc.

The OrbTV seems similar to this device and it's only $99… it connects to your tv and streams from your pc or website.

  • Check the link one more time. This player IS NOT Android-powered, it's just compatible.
