Call me old-fashioned, but I hate watching videos on my iPhone. It’s not that the phone doesn’t have a great screen or anything, it’s just that size really does matter. If it’s a quick clip from YouTube, I’ll give it a watch. But if it’s longer than a couple of minutes, I’ll just wait until I’m near a computer, or even a tablet to take a look. Thankfully, the rise of pico projectors means that soon, this will no longer even be an issue.
This new Pocket Projector will work with either of the iPhone 4 flavors, and delivers an image up to 50 at 640×360 at 15 lumens. Granted, that’s not a resolution that’s going to get you a lot of fine details, but it’s enough to watch videos on, and it’ll be better than looking at your screen. Need to show something to a group of people? Just find a blank wall and set down your phone. The case can even function as a backup battery for your phone in a pinch. It may be too bulky of a case to use all the time, but even if you store it in your laptop bag, it will come in handy quite often. At $230, this doesn’t look to be a bad deal, considering how expensive such projectors were only a short time ago.
