iPhone Lens Dial upgrades your phone’s camera

It’s no secret that the cameras found in today’s smartphones are able to take pictures that rival some point-and-shoot cameras. I take a fair amount of photos with my iPhone, both because of its quality, and the fact that it’s always on me. However, when I want to make sure I’m getting the best shot, I pull out my DSLR. But would something like the iPhone Lens Dial change my mind?

This Lens Dial is much as you would imagine from the name. You have three different lenses: a fisheye, wide angle and telephoto. These are set on a dial, which you simply rotate when you want to change them. Now while I understand what a difference the right lens can make, I still find it hard to justify something like this for my phone. Mostly because it takes away much of the portability (I’m not putting this in my pocket) plus the thing costs a whopping $249. That’s half the cost of a new DSLR, if you’re shopping around.
