Hack your monitor to only be visible with special glasses

If you’ve ever been in a government office or bank and looked at the computer screens, you might find that you can’t see anything. This is because such places use privacy filters to ensure that only people looking from a certain angle can see what’s on the screen. But what if you wanted to take this a step further, and make sure that only you could see it. Believe it or not, this is possible, with a bit of ingenuity.

Technically, you won’t be the only one that can see the screen with this hack, but viewing it will require a special pair of glasses that almost no one else will have. You see, LCD monitors use a polarized filter to block out the light that isn’t supposed to be shown. Without it, your screen would just look white all of the time. So what you do is remove the filter from the screen, and fashion a pair of lenses out of it. Put those in an old pair of plastic frames (maybe from a 3D movie that you paid too much money to see) and you’re all set. Without those glasses, the monitor will appear to be displaying nothing but a white background. Check out this guide for full instructions.
