NAO Next Gen may be small, but it’s making strides in the robot world

For the longest time, it has been apparent that robots are the future. It first started with book, and then movies about the artificial creatures, but these days scientists are hard at work making functional robots. Aldebaran Robotics is a company with a similar vision. They have just released their latest version of the NAO robot, which is touted to be one of the most advanced bots out there.

The NAO Next Gen has been in the works since 2005, and now utilizes a 1.6Ghz Atom processor for complex calculations, and a pair of HD cameras to help with things like facial recognition and object interaction. It can even listen to you talk, and pick out specific words to help it understand what you’re saying. Right now the bot is being aimed at educators and developers, so it may be difficult (and very expensive) to get your hands on.
