One of my biggest pet peeves when reading just about anything is to come across the same word written several times in the same paragraph. If possible, I like to liven up my text by using synonyms, rather than simply repeating myself. If one is stumped, the most useful resource is a thesaurus, as it will provide you with a variety of words or phrases that can be used. I’ve used a number of them online, but I think Graph Words might be my new favorite.
This simple online thesaurus doesn’t clutter up your screen with a bunch of text. Rather, you just input something in the box, and you’ll be provided with a graph of related words. Each of the results is grouped by common meanings, which are shown when you hover over their connecting circle. You can then click on one of the results to do a new search using that word or phrase.
