Once upon a time a rearview mirror was just that, a rectangular piece of glass designed so you could look behind you in a car. Then someone had the bright idea of adding in Bluetooth, so you could hook it up to your phone and do hands-free calling. It wasn’t long before some bright spark figured it would be a good idea to drop in a rear view camera for a video view of the back of your vehicle, then they decided GPS was a natural part of the rearview experience.
Now they’ve gone one step further and thrown in a full blown High Definition DVR system into this new Bluetooth Rearview Mirror GPS DVR device, so you can not only view but also record all the action going on around your car as it tootles down the road. Not only that, but you can watch movies and play games on it when you’re hanging around waiting for the kids to finish school. Basically we’re talking a computer on a stick here.
Couple of things to bear in mind. First you’ll need to grab yourself a big microSD card to store all the record and playback content, and secondly while the unit has integrated GPS functionality, you need to buy and install any navigation software yourself which is an added expense unless you can find something free. The specs are:
5 inch resistive screen
468MHz processor
128MB RAM
Windows CE o/s
Nightvision recording
FM Transmitter (for sending audio from your phone to the car HiFi)
12 months warranty
Price: $180.87 and it fits over your existing rearview mirror.
Wonder what the next step in adding features would be.
Multiple cameras hooked up to a security system is my guess.
still waiting for autopilot
Google auto-drive integration perhaps?
How can I get this mirror???
