Last month was the 203rd anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. It was also the official opening of Ford’s Theatre Center for Education and Leadership in Washington, D.C. With hundreds of artifacts and Lincoln-related objects, the Center also featured an awesome three-story Tower of Books made up of a mix of genuine and replicated 15,000 hardback books, all written about President Lincoln over the past 150 years!

This amazing “sculpture” was created by securing each book into the sculpture one by one. The amazing tribute to the 16th President of the United States gracefully rises up through the midst of a spiral staircase in the Center’s lobby. Although the tower contains 7,000 actual Lincoln-themed books, the rest are actually replicas made of pieces of bent aluminum, with the covers of the real books printed on them.

The 34 foot tower is meant to symbolize that the last word about this historic figure will never be written. A fitting tribute to a man with an incredible vision of peace.
