There’s something a little strange about this Fulljoin NMP001 Internet radio. For oen thing it’s not just a radio. It also supports Internet television streaming, which you can enjoy (we use the word in a liberal sense) on the integrated 2.4 inch LCD display. As if that wasn’t enough, the device is actually Linux powered, and the makers claim that it will happily tune in to over 20,000 radio stations and 2000 TV stations on the Net.
It features support for a wide range of codec formats, ranging from the obvious MP3, WAV and OGG audio to more exotic fare such as Flash (FLV) and RM (Real Media streaming). It connects to the Internet via WiFi, features USB recharging (expect to tap your feet for 5 hours as it does so) and takes microSD cards. What really confuses us though, is the mention of a ‘magic wheel’. We think they mean a control knob that works like an iPod wheel, but it’s not exactly clear.
If you’re interested in learning more, you can trot along to eBay where they’re selling the things for $99.00 each, complete with a free external wireless network dongle and a power adapter.
I'm guessing the wheel works like the controls on the Nokia 7280… actually they look quite similar- layout wise
Oh, interesting call. :)
i just got one. interesting device. it seems to do what i’m looking for it to do, though i didn’t know it played flv. that’s fun! the wheel is not quite like the ipod wheel. there’s nothing magic about it. the center bit is a button and the wheel goes round and round as a scroll-wheel of sorts.
