Twoppy lets you create your own mobile phone tour guide in a flash

There’s no doubt that smartphones are a perfect tourist tool, just think of the things you can use them for. You can use one to navigate around a strange town (as long as you’re happy paying the roaming data fees for your GPS app), take photos of interesting monuments, even check on currency rates while out shopping. Brilliant, and that’s just the obvious ones. One other very cool use is as a mobile brochure for activities you may enjoy.

That’s where Twoppy comes in. Twoppy is a new online application which is designed to make it easy to create a mobile phone brochure of an event, exhibition, tour or even festival. To set up the event, you just enter in all the details, dates and key information (like number of performers or itinerary), throw in a map or two, and add an itemised program guide.

Once you’re done you then publish it, which will make it visible to the world on it’s own web address, and also it can be downloaded into the special iPhone or Android mobile phone app. The whole website application is wrapped up in a very nice interface, and a simple wizard makes it a pleasure to use, and also fast. There’s a free plan, plus commercial ones for more ambitious organisers. This is one of those applications that actually makes you want to go out and organise something, which is pretty cool.
