In the never ending quest to make our Windows computers work better for longer, no stone remains unturned. We routinely run defrag utilities to optimize our hard disk performance (we highly recommend the free Auslogics Disk DeFrag), registry cleaners, WiFi enhancers and any other kind of tool we think will give us the best performance and reliability.
The free EraseTemp utility sits at the more basic end of the spectrum, but its function is still valuable. The software basically scans your Windows system for old defunct temporary files older than one day, and deletes them. Zap, just like that. It’s very fast, and very thorough! A quick test of this laptop discovered over 419 folders with more than 600MB worth of junk files.
The program runs initially in test mode, so you don’t delete anything first off until you’re happy with what it’s doing, after which you run it a second time to do the actual cleansing process. Will it make a massive difference to your life? Probably not. But what it will do is help to keep as much of the cruft off your hard disk as possible, which can only improve your Windows installation over time.
Just get a Mac and be done with all that de-fragging and viruses etc..
