Suction Mat will keep the floor amazingly tidy

When you walk through the front door of pretty much establishment, you’re bringing a lot in with you. I’m not talking about things you’re literally carrying, but rather what’s stuck on the bottom of your feet. Most of the crumbs and dirt that are on the floor come from tracking things inside on your shoes.

No one is in really good practice of cleaning the soles of their shoes upon entering a building, and if it’s a high traffic building, no janitor on Earth would be able to keep up. This fancy Suction Mat seeks to deal with anything that may be stuck to the bottoms of shoes, by essentially placing a vacuum under the welcome mat. Okay, it’s quite a bit more complex than that, otherwise it wouldn’t be worth its price tag of $6,250. Once you come into range of the sensor, the vacuum will start up. Looks to be a worthwhile endeavor for big companies who rent or buy mats quite frequently, but it is quite expensive for anything other than commercial use.

  • It seems to be very good at removing dry material that is on the metal surface of the mat (it looks like coarse dry sand, which would be easy) , but the video doesn't show if the shoes were dirty before walking on the mat. It would be nice to have a third-party test to see how well it cleans off a variety of real-world dirt from the soles of shoes. If it can do this well, then this is a great idea.
