We all wish that our house would be completely automated. Things like lights turning on and off without us having to touch a thing, and a pot of coffee being finished by the time we hit the kitchen in the morning would make us happy. However, it’s quite expensive to get your home to that level of automation, so why not settle for a lesser, but equally suitable option?
Belkin has just recently announced their new WeMo line, which are WiFi-based products that will turn let you run things at home from wherever. The WeMo Switch is a plug that goes directly into your outlet, and will let you turn on and off any household device through your iPod, iPad, or iPhone so long as you have WiFi access. With the corresponding app, you can schedule things to power up or down however you’d like. The WeMo Motion can work alongside the Switch, as it is a motion detector. It will allow you to program lights, coffee pots, and much more to turn on or off as you desire. The WeMo Switch will cost around $50, but should you want the Motion as well you’ll be looking about about $100.

it's not the highest quality stuff, but you can get a pack of like 10 outlet modules on eBay for dirt cheap, compared to the $50 a pop
