MobCam.

The MobCam is quite simply one of the most brilliant applications that this Ferret has ever seen! Download the small Symbian program onto your smartphone, install and then switch on and bingo, you have a totally wire-free portable webcam using your phone’s camera.

Sure there are somewhat similar products out there, but none are as flexible, easy to use (set up really is 3 minutes) or as free of charge. OK so it’s a beta, but if these people have any sense they’ll keep the free version going and charge for the Pro version with bells and whistles like email notifications etc. Superb!!!

‘MobCam is a freeware application for mobile phones using the SYMBIAN operation system Nokia 7650, Nokia 3650… This enables you to create a quick and easy mobile WEB camera that can be placed just about anywhere. Then you can look at the pictures from this WEB camera on-line at www.mobcam.cz….

MobCam can operate in three various modes:
Periodical sending: The mobile phone takes pictures periodically (e.g. every minute), sending them immediately to www.mobcam.cz where you can look at them.
Motion detection: At the moment of any motion being detected in front of the mobile camera lens, results in the MobCam application taking a picture and sending it immediately to the server at www.mobcam.cz.
SMS detection: The application takes no pictures. At the moment an SMS with a set password is received, MobCam takes a picture and sends it to the server at www.mobcam.cz.

Only the people with the knowledge of your numeric code (CODE) can look at the pictures from your mobile WEB camera. If you want more of your friends to be able to watch your MobCam, just send your CODE to them. ‘
