Ubi is a hands-free computer for your home

We all thought that having Siri on our iPhones was absolutely amazing. Having voice control made our lives much easier as we didn’t have to rifle through contacts, or slowly type things into Safari. The thought of having voice control for your computer at home is likely a drool-worthy idea, and it’s actually already in existence.

Its name is the Ubi, short for ubiquitous computer, and it will be an always on, always listening computer that is just waiting for your commands. (This idea seems to remind me of the computer in Star Trek…hmm) This can be used for basically whatever you want it to do. It can do voice-enabled internet searches, act as an intercom system, control the climate of your home (with the help of other web-enabled thermostats), act as an alarm clock, and much more. It can also sense temperature, humidity, air pressure, and ambient light. Its open source, so you can program it to do whatever you’d like it to do, and it will only cost you about $189.
