First Aid by British Red Cross is the smartphone app that could save a life [Freeware]

One of the awesomest things about teh smartphone is the fact that it’s portable. Which means you carry around a tiny computer which can hold incredibly useful bundles of information, as well as the means to access a global storehouse of even more data. When you think about it, it’s science fiction made real, isn’t it?

That’s why we love this new First Aid by British Red Cross app. It’s available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry and contains a huge amount of really valuable videos, training and step by step advice for emergency situations. It’s the kind of app that could literally save someone’s life in certain circumstances.

The fact that it’s also free is a bonus. We also particularly like the fact that the data is stored on the phone, so there’s none of that ‘oh no, can’t get a signal’ disaster stuff lurking in an emergency. Just fire up the app, find the appropriate section and be the hero you know you are.
