Myfitnesspal helps your keep your weight in check

For the past two years, my weight has been going up at a steady pace. Gaining weight is something that happens to all of us, but you don’t notice unless you’re really starting to pack on the pounds. While I could go through all of the generic stuff like diets didn’t work for me and blahblahblah, I figured I’d rather just get to the good stuff. Over the course of a couple of months, I dropped about 15 pounds thanks to an app on my phone.

Myfitnesspal is probably one of the apps you would pass over if you didn’t know that it was. It’s a calorie counter, as well as a diet and exercise log. This essentially makes it a food journal, but takes out a lot of the work that would come with keeping track manually. I will admit that I wasn’t too good with logging everything at first, but now that I’m into the swing of things, I can definitely vouch for its usefulness. When you log calorie intake, you can enter into the search menu which has what you’re looking for about 98% of the time. If that doesn’t work,  it has a barcode that will let you scan in an item. They have a pretty extensive database for exercises as well, so you don’t have to do much guesswork.

There’s a graph that will show you the progress you’ve made in your weight loss, and a huge community that will help cheer you on as you drop the weight. This app doesn’t hound you about what you’re eating, rather it makes sure you get enough calories, and lets you know if you’re not eating enough. The best thing about this app is that it’s free, and is best used with friends or family so you can all help each other out.  It’s available on your browser, iDevices, Android, and Blackberry. For those who really want to know the number breakdown, you can opt for the Fitbit Ultra Wireless Activity Tracker which is an altimeter that will track your sleep schedule, steps taken, whether or not you take the stairs, and more. While I recommend just using the app, the $100 activity tracker would be a good addition if you really start getting into it.
