Spoutnik turns microwave cooking into a dazzling light show

Microwaves are the saviors of a rumbling tummy. Don’t feel like cooking a meal? Pull out some leftovers or something from the freezer, and boom, you have hot food in no time flat. The only downside to using this magical machine is that it is a pain to clean, and has a very narrow opening to get scalding hot morsels out. If you thought this is just “the way things were”, prepare to have a new outlook on life.

The Spoutnik is a microwave unlike any you have ever seen before. It is round, see-through, and will give you a light show. This freestanding microwave is domed, and has an illuminated turntable that is red while it’s cooking, and blue when it’s finished. The buttons are all self-explanatory, and this shape will make it beyond easy to clean out. You’ll be able to choose between accent colors of ultra violet, green flash, and odyssey blue, and it will cost you around $230.

  • Hah, I thought you wrote 'doomed', but it was 'domed' which is not half as funny. :)

  • What the heck!?! Since when do microwaves have a "very narrow opening to get scalding hot morsels out"? And how is a square box hard to clean? Who writes this crap, and how much do they receive from the manufacturer to spout such nonsense? The bloody thing is half the size of a compact microwave, the round shape is a poor use of space, and it looks like a hair dryer from a 1950s salon. I guess we'll see how popular it becomes.

    • Obviously your microwave is a larger size. I find mine is very tricky to get stuff out of, and it is a real pig to clean (because the door refuses to fold back fully. I think they're designed that way.

We don't get paid to shill products, we write what we think is interesting about new products and innovations. No need for abuse, thanks. :)
