Fuel is the world’s smallest phone charger – does bigger mean better?

Fuel Phone Charger

There are those crucial moments when you actually need your phone to work, and it dies. Of course, it’s when you’ve just finished locking yourself out of the car, missed the last bus, or need to ask for directions. Backup batteries are almost a necessity nowadays, but with so many out there, which ones will prove their worth? So long as it does its job, nothing else should matter, right?

Fuel, being only a bit larger than a quarter, may be the world’s smallest phone charger, but is its performance worth the $22 you’d spend on it? Modeled after a gas can, this little red charger can give you an extra 20-30 minutes of phone time if you’re in dire need. It’s small enough to go on your keychain, and has three LEDs to indicate whether it’s charging, fully charged, or on.

There is a switch to turn it on and off so you don’t drain the battery before you use it. It charges through a micro-USB, and charges phones that have a micro-USB port. While this would be useful for emergencies, it’s one of those things that you would probably forget to charge, or accidentally hit the “on” switch if it was on your keychain. It can hold the charge for a month, but when you can get a backup battery for a a bit more that will charge your phone completely, this little thing just isn’t worth it.
