The ‘name this tune‘ site is a simply brilliant idea. What a shame it doesn’t seem to work. You’re supposed to be able to whistle a few bars of the tune into the online Java applet, which will then produce a code for you to use to check for a match in their – somewhat small – database.

It’s a great idea for finding that annoyingly elusive song, but unfortunately it simply doesn’t seem to work as advertised. I tried and tried and couldn’t for the life of me get it to recognise the opening bars of Beethoven’s 5th no matter what. But if and when they get the technology working this will be a doozy of an online app, no question. [via Bifurcated Rivets]
