If you’re a Star Trek fan, you’ll love Quintet. This free multiplayer space game lets you and your buddies take control of a starship and boldly go where no other web browser has ever gone before.
Each player assumes a role, which as you’d expect cover Captain, Engineering, Helm, Science and Tactical (weapons to you and me). Vacant slots are taken over by the game’s AI, so once you’re set you can undertake to complete any of a bunch of missions to save the universe.
The beauty of the game is the fact that you get full communications (audio and text) between players, and the fact that it’s playable on Mac, Windows, Linux iOS and soon Android, so your team mates can be anywhere and on any platform and still do their duty for the Federation.
The various scenarios are currently free until June 8th, but after then we assume that you’ll only be able to play a teaser or something, so now would be a good time to rush off and conquer space properly. But remember, your mission is to deliver peace to the galaxy, while shooting it up. Great fun, Captain!
