It’s funny how far removed we are from tangible objects. We used to keep memories through photographs and written journals, and now we store all of this digitally. It’s not hard to forget about making hard copies of all of your photographs, but you’ll wish you had if your computer dies with no hope of getting anything off of the hard drive. While the whole world isn’t going to move back to jotting their thoughts down on paper, there are still some more private ways to record the happenings in your life.

The iHeart Locket is a necklace and iDevice app that will allow you to keep track of your personal history. Instead of just typing out words though, you can take photos, put in stickers, or speak your memories to have them be written down if you don’t think your fingers can move as fast as your thoughts. The app is free, but the locket will cost you around $25. The locket is the only way to access your diary, so make sure it doesn’t get lost (seeing as this is marketed to pre-teen girls, that’s a high possibility). It says to “export with caution as brothers can be sneaky” if you want to save anything in a folder on your computer.
