The one thing you can safely say about security is it’s definitely a growth industry. Everybody wants to protect something from someone else, whether it’s the government with their anti immigrant barriers, industry with encrypted flash drives or Aunt Mabel with her Yale deadbolt. But one thing we’ve never heard of before is a music dock which doubles up as a secret safe and alarm clock.

This Cannon Radio Vault combines a fingerprint activated secret security drawer, with a perfectly conventional looking iDock device for playing music and suchlike. The dock part features a FM Radio, dual alarms, automatic geo time sync and a Aux In for MP3 devices, alongside the foam lined stash pad for your jewelry, knick-knacks and Justin Bieber CDs.

We’re still trying to work out what’s to stop a strong thief from simply grabbing the whole thing and making off like a bandit – natch – through the window, but maybe it’s super heavy, or you can bolt it down to the table or something? Anyhoo, there’s clearly a market for something like this, and although we’re given no details on the power output of the unit, we are told that it will cost a cool $349.99 to buy one. In black.
